The budget smartphone market is one of the most competitive in the world and especially in countries like India. Many smartphone companies launched their budget smartphones In India, but very few of them got success in that. To make a mark in the smartphone market, Priyanka communication launched the Centric A1 smartphone last month with the high-end specifications.
We grab the chance to review the device and are very impressed with the device. But does Centric A1 will stand a chance in the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Moto G5 Plus. Find out in our detailed review below.

In the Box
The Centric A1 comes with the normal packaging. In the box, you will get the Sim ejector tool, earphone, back cover, charger with USB Type-C cable and the device of course. Many smartphone companies avoid giving the earphones to reduce the smartphone cost, but we get one in the box. The box also includes a user manual and warranty card. The back cover gives grip and also looks stylish on the phone.
Design and Display
We reviewed centric P1+ earlier this year and we really liked the design of the smartphone. The design of the A1 is also elegant. The Device features 5.5 inches Full HD display with dragontail glass. The metal unibody design with very narrow bezels looks quite impressive. The device doesn’t feel heavy and perfect to handle with one hand.
The device has a fingerprint sensor on the back with the rear camera and flash above it. On the front, there is a front camera with flash and at bottom the navigation buttons. The speakers are located at the bottom to give crisp and clear sound. There is a 3.5mm jack on top with a microphone and USB Type-C port at the bottom.
The Centric A1 performs well and handles the multitasking without any lag. It is powered by 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 Octa-core processor. The device is coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. Though the storage is expandable up to 256Gb via MicroSD card.
The heavy games like asphalt 8 and Fifa 18 run smoothly. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and gives pure android experience. The device doesn’t heat much while playing the games for a long time. The split-screen feature also works fine.
Overall the performance is powerful and without lag. We are using the device for more than 15 days and it is really impressive. The one of the outstanding and the feature which it puts in front of the other smartphone in this price range is the DTS sound. The DTS sound adds more to your movie and music experience. Watching a movie and listening to the music with the speaker was great. It provides crisp and clear sound.
Smartphone sports 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash. The camera is bit an average for the price tag. The photos from the rear camera are good in both outdoor and indoor. But we find that they lack a little in sharpness and detail. In low light as well we find it needs a little improvement. The camera comes with features like a Micro shot, portrait mode and beautification. There is also a continuous shot and face detection option available.
The touch to focus works well. The front camera of 8MP gives better snaps. Also in low light condition, the front flash comes handy. The video recording is also very well in both lighting conditions. But including the touch to focus feature while recording a video would have been great.
The overall camera is good for this price range.
Battery and connectivity
The Centric A1 is backed by the 3000 mAh powerful battery with the Qualcomm Quick charge 3.0 supports. The fast charging charges the device from 0 to 50 percent within half hour. With the normal usage, the device will long last until night. Though with the heavy usage of internet and gaming battery drains quickly. But thanks to the fast charging it doesn’t seem much the issue.
For Connectivity Centric A1 supports dual-SIM 4G-VoLTE network with hybrid SIM slot. The other connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0 and other standard sensors.
The centric A1 is priced at Rs. 9,999 and is available on company site(link below). For this price range, there are fights between Redmi Note 4 and Moto G5 Plus. But the A1 beat this phones with the addition of DTS sound. Apart from the camera, the device is the best in this price range. Though you have the alternatives, if you are the person who loves to hang out friends listening to music and watching movies on mobile then this is the best choice for you. The Design, performance and the display of the device is top notch.
