Salted Venture, a startup supported by Samsung Electronics, will launch the IOFIT smart shoe globally at MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The IOFIT shoes will be priced at $199 for fitness shoes and $259 for goft shoes.
“Our goal is to empower people who love fitness and sports to train smarter and coach better,” Jacob Cho, CEO of Salted Venture explained. “We want to see our products being used by inspiring athletes, coaches and individuals all over the world and to make their training and coaching experience the best it can be.”
The smart shoes combines pressure sensors and a coaching app to improve a user’s balance and body posture to enhance one’s fitness routine. Company claims that the IOFIT is portable and cost-effective unlike the other static, pricey equipments.
The smart-shoe is designed with accelerometers and pressure sensors incorporating into the outsoles of shoes. This will measure the users’ balance, weight shift, ground contact force and location of COG (Center of Gravity). Theses all are specific factors essential to enable a more efficient and injury-free fitness and golf experience.
IOFIT mobile app pairs with shoes to display real time pressure map on the screen. “The technology is not only portable, but also seamless. It’s integrated into something you wear all the time, so you don’t even have to think about it,” said Marketer Jungsoo Park.
This will be the one of the first time where MWC will witness the launch of wearable device.
