According to the report by counterpoint, India becomes second largest smartphone market in world. India surpasses USA for the first time in the history.
During CY 2015, Indian smartphone market shipments grew 23% YoY to cross the 100 Million units milestone. At the end of 2015 India Smartphone user base grew to 220 Million users. Smartphone shipments grew 15% year-on-year in Q4, 2015.

According to the report, 50% of mobile phones sold during the quarter were “Made in India” phones and about 40% of all are smartphones. Samsung is the top selling smartphone vendor in India. Domestic brands like Intex and Lava join the race with Micromax by sharing 13.0% and 12.6% shipment respectively in 4Q 2015.
Online retailers sold the one third of the smartphone in India. Lenovo was also the second largest LTE player during the quarter and for the entire year.
