On Wednesday, Nikon announced FX-format flagship DSLR camera Nikon D5 along with DX- format flagship DSLR camera Nikon D500 . The Nikon 500 is the compact and lightweight version of Nikon D5.
Tadashi Nakayama, Corporate Vice President, Sector Manager of Marketing Sector, Imaging Business Unit said that
The Nikon D5 is not just about technical excellence, but the marriage of elegant technologies. Speed and refined image quality have never converged so extensively, making it truly the camera that the industry has been waiting for.
Nikon D5 features Multi-CAM 20K autofocus sensor module which offers 153 focus points. The camera equipped with a dedicated AF engine capable of high-speed calculation and collaboration with the 180K-pixel RGB sensor. It also comes with High-speed continuous shooting at approx. 12 fps with swift subject tracking. Nikon D5 supports 4K video recording. The other features of camera are A high-resolution 3.2-in., approx. 2,359k-dot touch screen LCD monitor, wired and wireless network options and Versatile image storage options.
On the other hand, Nikon D500 also comes with almost same features as that of Nikon D5. It features 20K autofocus sensor module which offers a dense configuration of 153 focus points and continuous shooting at approx. 10 fps for up to 200 shots. The D500’s 8cm touch-panel monitor enables a variety of functions, including instant switching of images using the frame advance bar and text input. It comes with built-in Bluetooth and WiFi to share memories with other devices.
Nikon has not announced the price and the availability of the cameras.
