Canadian software company which is known for its mobile security and the famous QWERTY keypad, BlackBerry announced KEYone Android smartphone at MWC event in Barcelona. BlackBerry KEYone will be the last smartphone developed by company. TCL communications has already taken over the BlackBerry brand.
Blackberry has introduced it’s first smartphones in 1999 and from then it was very popular for its own distinct QWERTY keypad. Then comes the touch smartphone and Android phone which replaces the keypad phones. With increasing demand for touch smartphone the Sale of BlackBerry find a massive downfall. They also tried to catch the trend but fails.
With the launch of BlackBerry KEYone company come back to its original form of QWERTY keypad smartphone with the mixture of Android OS. From now company will only focus on software.
BlackBerry KEYone features 4.5-inch Fill HD(1620 x 1080) IPS display with 433 PPI pixel density protected by Corning Gorilla Glass4. Device is powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. It houses 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage which is expandable via MicroSD card upto 2TB.
The Highlight feature is the smartphone is its smart keyboard. BlackBerry KEYone has a physical QWERTY keyboard with flick typing feature. The keyboard also works as trackpad to touch gestures, making web browsing, reading, and writing with flick typing a much easier and more intuitive experience. The keyboard also can be easily programmed to launch up to 52 customizable shortcuts, such as pressing “W” for your Whatsapp or “F” to access Facebook and so on. Notably the Fingerprint sensor is also integrated in the spacebar of the keyboard.
The Strong aluminium frame and Soft textured back makes the design elegant. BlackBerry KEYone sports 12MP auto-focus rear camera with dual-LED flash. The rear camera comes with Sony IMX378 Sensor. The 8MP front camera also have flash to capture perfect selfies during low light.
The Device houses massive 3505 mAh battery which can charge upto 50% in just 36 minutes. BlackBerry KEYone runs on latest Android 7.1 Nougat. For security the DTEK security monitoring app and the BlackBerry HUB which is unified messaging inbox also comes with the smartphone.
Finally coming to the pricing and availablity, BlackBerry KEYone will be availably globally as early as April for the price tag of €599 EUR/£499 GBP/$549 USD. The pre-registration for the device is already up at blackberrymobile.com
